ThinkServer range by Lenovo launched in India

Lenovo, ThinkServer A recent announcement by Lenovo unveiled the introduction of the ThinkServer range, an expansion to the very popular Lenovo product family. That’s right! The legendary Think range of products welcomes new members, the ThinkServer range to give all-inclusive IT solutions to small and medium businesses along with mid-market companies, branch offices and retail stores in India.

For SMBs that essentially need robust performance, high levels of storage and a reliable IT infrastructure for sustainable business growth, the ThinkServer range of products are fabricated ideally to deliver umbrella solutions. The already existing portfolio of the Think range comprises of ThinkPad notebook PCs, ThinkCentre desktop PCs and ThinkStation high-end workstation PCs. With the addition of the novel ThinkServer range, we think business users in India are definitely going to be excited.

Bundled with ThinkServer management tools, software that has been tailored to cater to your SMBs installation, updation and management needs, highlights of this product include ThinkServer EasyUpdate, ThinkServer EasyManage and ThinkServer EasyStartup. While EasyUpdate is an update utility that makes identifying, downloading and installing hardware and firmware updates effortless, the EasyStartup is a hardware configuration tool that helps by getting the servers up and running quickly. Developed together with LANDesk, as the name suggests the EasyManage is high-end functional tool that should let customers oversee the performance of one or more servers from a single console.

There are three tower servers and two rack x86 servers in the ThinkServer range. The ThinkServer TS100 Tower and RS110 Rack, single socket servers packed with Intel Core 2 Duo or Xeon 3000 or 3200 processors mainly for small offices that work with simple applications like storing files, email, Web server and messaging. The other two namely the ThinkServer TD100 Tower, TD100x Tower or RD120 Rack are double-socket servers supported by Intel Xeon 3000 or 5000 processors and are the perfect choice for medium-sized businesses that have additional requirements like database applications or virtualization.

Lenovo plans to introduce the ThinkServer range with Microsoft Windows Server or SUSE Linux Enterprise Server from Novell with full service and support as well.

We should see the ThinkServer range of products retailing some time around end of October 2008 starting at Rs 45000. They should be available through Lenovo business partners.
