Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., global leaders in telecommunication network systems and handsets has just unveiled the latest in mobile convergence devices, the SPH-P9000 Delux MITs. The Samsung SPH-P9000 is a Mobile WiMAX and CDMA 1x EV-DO supporting phone, which is capable of voice and multimedia data communications through Mobile WiMAX technology.
MITs stands for Mobile Intelligence Terminal. The Samsung SPH-P9000 phone weighs just 560 grams and contains a fold-out keyboard, a 5-inch screen and a 30GB hard drive. In fact, according to Kim Hun-bae, Samsung’s Vice President for mobile research, the new SPH-P9000 WiMAX phone is the world’s first WiMAX device that doubles as a mobile phone.
The Samsung SPH-P9000 mobile phone incorporates the CDMA mobile phone communications standard, which is used in South Korea and U.S.
The Samsung SPH-P9000 is a PDA-based device, which uses Mobile WiMAX and CDMA EV-DO connectivity. Users who wish to connect to the internet wirelessly can utilize Mobile WiMAX connectivity available on the Samsung SPH-P9000 mobile phone.
The Samsung SPH-P9000 mobile phone has Microsoft Windows XP as the operating system. Hence, users will find that the contents and applications familiar to use.
The Samsung SPH-P9000 Delux MITs has functions including a camera, MP3 player and can even display movies. According to Samsung, it is one of the few products that has been tailored especially for WiMAX technology.

Samsung will expand our portfolio of mobile convergence devices, as we expect to expand our global Mobile WiMAX services globally.”
The Samsung SPH-P9000 Delux MITs will be launched in Korea in the first half of 2007.
