Lenovo IdeaPad A1000, A3000 available in the US for $149, $229

Lenovo IdeaPad

The Lenovo IdeaPad A1000 and A3000 which were announced earlier this year have finally been given the green light for sale in the US. Lenovo has made both budget-friendly slates available through its online store carrying entry-level specifications and it plans on launching the A2107 soon.

Both tablets run on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean platform. They fall in the 7-inch segment with capacitive multi-touch IPS displays proffering resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. Where storage is concerned, buyers will be entitled to 16GB eMMC memory, while connectivity needs are taken care of by Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and USB OTG amongst others. A 3500mAh Li-polymer battery gets up and running.

Front Back

The Lenovo IdeaPad A1000 is the cheapest model and apparently, the one with better hardware components. Carrying the load is a dual core MT8317 1.2GHz SOC that’s accompanied by 1GB of DDR2 RAM for better performance. The overall hoarding capacity can be extended with up to 32GB more though the microSD card slot. Other features comprise of a 0.3MP camera on the front, Dolby Digital Plus audio for distortion-free sound and a battery life of approximately 8 hours when browsing the web over Wi-Fi or 6 hours of video playback.

The Lenovo A3000 is 0.43 inches thick and weighs 0.76 pounds. Unlike the aforementioned one which has a dual core chipset, this piece of hardware has gone on sale with a single core processor, the MediaTek 6575 to be more specific, which is based on the Cortex A9 architecture with 1GHz frequency. Additionally, this slate comes with an entire gigabyte of system memory. There’s also support for up to 64GB memory expandability. It comes with dual cameras, a 0.3MP front-facing webcam and a 5MP rear-facing lens for capturing images and recording videos. A single charge can render up to 7 hours of Wi-Fi web browsing.
