Users of NAS servers may gear up for something interesting and feature-rich coming their way. Synology has unveiled the beta version of DiskStation Manager 3.0 OS which is a multi-tasking web UI designed to enhance the productivity of NAS servers. The offering lets users run more than one app on a single tab browser and switch between them faster.
This OS enables owners to execute an inter-app file exchange between two or more file browsers in real-time. It is equipped with dynamic loading capability which reduces the need to refresh the whole webpage repeatedly. The enhancement ensures that users can access and manage their favorite apps easily within a file browser.
“DSM 3.0 realizes our commitment in delivering the best in class NAS solution with forward-thinking features,” affirmed Derren Lu, CEO of Synology. “The breakthrough multi-tasking web UI has raised the bar for a NAS server user’s experience.”
Thanks to DSM 3.0 beta manager, iPhone and Android smartphone users can avail of Synology apps like DS photo+, DS audio and DS cam through their handsets. This feature allows owners of the above mentioned gadgets to upload or download images as well control and play music on the attached USB speakers through remote function and so on.
With Windows ACL support, owners can access shared folders and each file on DiskStation in the Windows environment. Additionally, the offering provides cross-mapping between iSCSI targets and iSCSI LUNs. It also offers MC/S and MPIO which rectifies connection failover and load balancing and fortifies the stability of a network storage environment.
Moreover, the DiskStation Manager 3.0 integrates EXT4 file system apart from supporting storage capacity of up to 1 exabyte which is equivalent to 1 million TB. What’s more, users can employ over 580 IP cameras displaying up to 5MP resolution and live up to 36 channels thanks to Surveillance Station 5 upgrade. The Manager is attributed with the Time Slicing feature which divides an active video into four parts for better scanning.
The OS flaunts WebDAV support and IPv6 integration as well as abides by the SPC-3 PR specifications. It is also compatible with ONVIF and PSIA industrial standards. Owners of the DiskStation x07 and later versions can download Synology DSM 3.0 Manager beta through the company’s official website.
