Swipe’s Marathon handset has a 4000mAh battery and costs just Rs 4599

If it’s a basic Android smartphone with great battery life that you desire, then there’s no harm in taking a look at the Swipe Marathon which recently went on sale in India. The phone is priced at just Rs 4599 and it comes with a massive 4000mAh power pack.

The Swipe Marathon is the cheapest option on the market to offer such a large battery. The Lava Iris Fuel 60 comes next at Rs 8888 and it also delivers mid-range specs. For the lower retail tag on the handset in question, you’ll of course have to sacrifice on features. Android 4.4 KitKat comes preloaded which is great, but don’t expect any updates to newer OS releases.

And there’s a measly 1GHz dual core processor doing the heavy lifting. Memory provisions are pretty basic as well, with 512MB of RAM, 4GB internal storage and a microSD slot supporting cards of up to 32GB. The Swipe handset sports a 4.5-inch FWVGA display and a VGA camera on the front, while a 5MP snapper is located on the rear.

What’s disappointing is that the company hasn’t provided any estimate on how much activity time you can expect from the massive battery. Obviously, you’ll be able to pull through at least 2 days of usage, but we’ve seen such devices with large power packs also offer below average results.
