Spice Pinnacle Stylus Mi-550: A mid-range phablet that’s no different from the lot

Spice is soon to launch a new smartphone, the Pinnacle Stylus Mi-550, which has already gone on sale through online retailer Saholic. The device takes its place amongst the Pinnacle FHD, Pro and Stellar Pinnacle phablets in the series and it has the largest display amongst the two devices.

The Pinnacle Stylus Mi-550 dons a 5.5-inch display which is almost at par with the latest Note and the Canvas Doodle 2 from Micromax. The TFT LCD panel has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. What’s a bit weird is that contrary to the phone’s name, there’s no mention of stylus support apart from capacitive touch input. Design-wise, the handset measures 158mm x 79mm x 9.5mm in dimensions, but there no information on how much it weighs.

The Pinnacle Stylus has similar hardware to that of the Doodle 2. It features a 1.2GHz quad core processor which we’re quite sure is from MediaTek, clocked at 1.2GHz, while the RAM is listed at 1GB. For memory, the company has provided 8GB of storage and a microSD card slot that can support up to 32GB max. The handset, like every other from local Indian companies, has dual SIM slots. This one also has 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and USB connectivity.

The front dons a 2MP camera for video calling and the rear sports an 8MP snapper with dual LED flash, that can record footage in 1080p HD at 30fps. Android 4.2 Jelly Bean is available out of the box and there’s a 2500mAh battery onboard as well.

The Spice Pinnacle Stylus Mi-550 is priced at Rs 15,499 and it comes with a free flip cover. The device can be purchased now, while deliveries will start from October 14, that’s next week.
