SP-565 UZ and FE-360, FE-370 from FE series announced by Olympus

Amongst the recently announced new camera meant for consumers, are the SP-565 UZ and the all new FE series – FE-360 and FE-370.

The SP-565 UZ camera comes with an amazing 20x optical zoom that can take you really close to your subject. The wide-angled lens is also capable of capturing shot at the high speed of 13.5 fps. The pre-capture feature enables archiving ten frames at 3mp before you finalize the perfect shot. Not to forget features like panorama, Dual Image Stabilisation, smile detection, shadow adjustment technology, 2.5-inch LCD display, 33 shooting modes. The 10mp is available for a suggested price of $399.99 and this one too will hit the market in October.

Last but not the least from Olympus is the FE series featuring FE-360 and FE-370. The FE-360 is slim at 0.7” metallic body and comes with a 3x optical zoom, Digital Image Stabilisation, 20 custom shooting modes, the 8.0 megapixel camera comes at an affordable price of $149.9 (suggested price).

The Olympus FE-370 offers gamut of features that includes Dual Image Stabilisation, TruePic III Image Processor, 5x optical zoom, 2.7 inch high resolution LCD, Smile detector, face detector that can detect upto 16 faces. Also comes with it an interesting feature – the Expression Edit that can turn frowns into smiles.

Other features in the FE-370 include, Dual Image Stabilisation fro anti-blur images, designed by combining the mechanical Sensor-Shift Image Stabilisation and Digital Image Stabilisation. Also featuring in it is the Intelligent Auto-Mode that automatically identifies the scene to adjust the settings to portrait, landscape, night + portrait, macro, sports. Also there is the TruePic III Image processor that helps the camera to give a performance like that of a professional DSLR.

Both the cameras in the FE series sport the pre-set shooting modes like sports, fireworks and night scene with portrait. They also claim to offer VGA & AVI-quality video and sound for movies that can be shared on the Web. Equipped with the In-camera Help Guides, compatibility with xD-Picture CardTM media, OLYMPUS Master 2 Software; both of these – the FE-360 and the FE-370 are expected to be available this month.

The Olympus FE-360 camera is suggested to be priced at $149.99 while the Olympus FE-370 is priced at $199.9.
