Sony will be holding a keynote at IFA on September 2, and there are high chances that the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact will end up being the stars of the show. An apparent image of the two devices has now leaked out into the open, with the source telling us that both of them will ship with fingerprint scanners onboard.
The surprising part of this whole development is that these sensors won’t be placed on traditional locations – the home button or under the camera. The Sony Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact will instead carry their fingerprint scanners on their power buttons.
The live photo which comes from ViziLeaks claims to show these two handsets sitting beside an iPhone 5S to enunciate their fingerprint sensing capabilities. To the right of the Apple smartphone is the Xperia Z5, while to its left is its Compact variant.
And the screen of the latter is where your attention should be. It seems to be showing a visual depicting how to use the fingerprint sensor on the power button. Looks like Sony’s big surprise announcement at its IFA event has been blown owing to this leak.
We’re still not sure about the other specifications of these two devices, but we can expect Quad HD displays to finally make their way into these Xperia models. The above mentioned source of these leaks has said that a USB Type-C connector has not made its way into these offerings.
We’ll have more on the Sony Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact when additional details about the two upcoming smartphones are out. Remember; they are slated to be unveiled by the Japanese company on September 2.
