If a new report is to be believed, a super high-end Sony Xperia Z5 Ultra phablet could very well be under development right now. Just like the Premium device from the new Z5 range, this offering too is believed to sport a 4K display and other advanced specs.
Sony has stopped releasing phablet versions of its flagship devices lately, and the case will be different this time around. The fact that the Xperia Z5 Ultra will be housing a Snapdragon 820 chipset means that it will have to be showcased next year, since this SoC isn’t scheduled to arrive prior to 2016.
A tech blog named PricePony claims to have received detailed information from Chinese sources regarding the upcoming Sony smartphone. It is said to arrive in March 2016 at the MWC event which takes place in Barcelona. This device will apparently come equipped with a 6.44-inch 2160 x 3840 pixel 4K monitor.
The highly advanced processor of the Xperia Z5 Ultra will be accompanied by 4GB worth of RAM. Powering this entire assembly will be a massive 4000mAh battery that could again promise 2-day battery life, just like the current-gen Z5 family is promising.
As for the camera setup, it’s a given that Sony will be retaining the new 23MP camera that we saw on its fresh flagship range. We can expect that the fingerprint scanner on the power button will also present on this upcoming phablet.
There’s still a lot of time left for the Sony Xperia Z5 Ultra’s purported arrival; so there could very well be a change of plans as well. It’s hence better to take this news with a pinch of salt.
