Sony Xperia Z3 specs arrive via trusted source, confirm small upgrade

There’s been a lot of talk about the upcoming Sony Xperia Z3 flagship and we’ve even seen the device leak out in the flesh. And while the design doesn’t appear to show many changes, the hardware will apparently be quite similar to the components found on the current Z2 flagship.

We’ve already got a good deal of information on the specs through multiple reports and now, @evleaks has confirmed most of the details. By the looks of things, the Sony Xperia Z3 will be a small upgrade over its predecessor where specs are concerned. The handset will arrive with the same 5.2-inch 1080p display and also be powered by the Snapdragon 801 chipset.

Well, the SOC will have a higher clock speed of around 2.5GHz, but it won’t show any noticeable difference in performance. The memory provisions are the same as well – 3GB RAM and 16GB storage. The 20.7MP rear and 2.1MP front cameras will also remain untouched. Rumor has it that the smartphone will have a slimmer design of around 7mm and run on Android 4.4.4 KitKat.

While these changes aren’t much, there’s still a lot that’s not known about the smartphone. Sony might improve the battery life or tweak the camera for better performance and probably even throw in new software enhancements. It’s too early to tell, especially with limited information.

We’d be rather disappointed (and fans would as well) if Sony releases the Xperia Z3 as a small update to the current flagship. We’ll only know for sure what the company’s plans are this September during the IFA 2014 or if someone manages to leak the information before.
