The price details for the Xperia SP and the Xperia L have been revealed by Sony for interested buyers in the UK. The mid-range phones were just recently made official, and already Expansys has them listed for pre-order, but it appears they are only available via the retailer in white.
The SP has been outfitted with a 1.7GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 CPU for a heart and a shatter-proof screen spanning 4.6 inches, capable of displaying visuals at a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution. The Mobile Bravia Engine 2 is intended to deliver better images and crisper videos on the device. Finally, a ‘transparent element’ is capable of changing color and features customizable illuminations for alerts.
In contrast, the L can only manage a scratch-resistant 4.3-inch, 854 x 480 pixel display to interact with, and will have a 1GHz dual core Qualcomm processor under the hood. It is also a little thinner and lighter than its sibling, measuring 9.7 millimeters in thickness and 137 grams in weight. A 12-key on-screen keyboard can be seen as a bit unappealing, especially to those accustomed to QWERTY input.
Both devices share a good deal in terms of their specs. Android 4.1 is the platform underlying operations, while there is an 8MP primary camera on the back with auto focus and flash. The snapper utilizes the company’s Exmor RS mobile sensor and can boast of HDR imaging, but the SP records video in 1080p, while the L can only muster 720p video.
Also common between both handsets is a host of connectivity options which include Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi hotspot, native USB tethering and Wi-Fi. Something else that is shared is a VGA webcam on the front panel for video chats and the like. But both will also have 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage for hoarding needs, which can be expanded by a further 32GB, via a microSD card slot.
The 4G LTE Sony Xperia SP can be pre-ordered via Expansys for £339.99, while the Xperia L can be reserved by putting down a £239.99 sum, both of which are inclusive of 20 percent VAT. For those who do book, orders will not be charged or shipped without confirmation when the handsets become available.
