The Sony Xperia J can now be purchased through Three as its price in the UK and availability details have been formally announced. The phone first made its appearance at the IFA 2012 along with the company’s flagship Xperia T handset and the Xperia V.
This Android ICS smartphone falls under the entry-level segment with a decent set of offerings. The device features a single core Qualcomm processor clocked at 1GHz and 512MB of RAM for smooth functioning. On the entertainment front, users will have the xLoud audio filter technology, a manual equalizer, the Walkman application, DLNA certification and Clear Stereo which aims to prevent audio signal leakage.
The front features a 4-inch FWVGA 854 x 480p scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass touchscreen, while the innards include 4GB of storage and a microSD card slot supporting up to 32GB. There’s also 50GB of online hoarding capacity in tow. The rear sports a 5MP AF camera with LED flash, which can record videos in VGA resolution at 30fps. The company announced back in October that the Xperia J is compatible with the Jelly Bean platform. What it didn’t disclose is an ETA on when users can expect the update to roll out.
The Sony Xperia J is available for purchase in the UK through Three for a starting cost of £13 a month with the Essential Internet 50 plan. Other tariff plans include All in One 15 which provides unlimited internet access, 300 minutes and 3,000 texts for 30 days at £15 and All in One 25 that delivers limitless data, 500 minutes and 3,000 text messages for a month at £25, amongst others. These subscriptions come with a 24-month contract. The device can even be picked up in a Pay As You Go option where the handset is tagged at £149.99 and buyers will have to choose between £10 and £15 add-ons.
