The Sony Xperia ion price in India has been unveiled through online retailer Snapdeal, nearly 2 months after hitting availability status in the US. Powered by the Android 2.3 OS, the handset can currently be picked up in 2 shades, namely red and black.
The Tokyo-based conglomerate has designed this 144gram handset around dimensions of 68mm x 133mm x 10.6mm. Fitted within its slim form factor is a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Scorpion dual core processor that’s accompanied by Adreno 220 graphics and 1GB of RAM. The Gingerbread platform is coated with the Timescape UI offering a very distinctive appearance when compared with other non-Sony smartphones. Here, users will have 12.9GB of available memory on the inside, with a microSD card slot supporting 32GB. A 4.6-inch TFT Reality Display is allocated to the front, proffering HD resolutions of 1280 x 720 pixels.
While the Mobile Bravia Engine is deployed to deliver rich visuals, the xLoud audio filter technology aims to enhance users’ overall audio experience. More on entertainment, the device is DLNA certified. This means it can be utilized as a medium to stream content over Wi-Fi to various other portable gadgets, PCs and even compatible HDTVs. Speaking of connectivity, it supports GSM networks with HSDPA speeds of up to 21.1Mbps. The smartphone comes with a 1900mAh battery and can deliver approximately 10 hours of talktime or 400 hours of standby over a 2G network.
The Sony Xperia ion is available for Rs. 35,999 after a 3% discount over the original retail tag. As stated earlier, the smartphone is available for purchase through Snapdeal.
