The price and availability details for the Sony Xperia advance have been unveiled for the US through the company’s online store and various retailers in the country. The device is now up for grabs in color options of tactile black, pure white or warm yellow, tagged at under $300.
According to the manufacturer, the handset carries a stylish, sleek and durable form factor. It measures 9.8mm in thickness and weighs not more than 110 grams. The body adopted here is highly durable meeting IP67 ratings. This means that the Xperia advance is dust- and water-resistant in up to a depth of 39 inches for approximately 30 minutes. Owing to its lightweight and rugged design, users will be able to conveniently carry the device around, sans any worry of marks or scratches from appearing. The company has also thrown in 512MB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, out of which only 4GB is available for hoarding content.
A 1GHz NovaThor U8500 dual core Cortex A9 processor runs the show here with the Android Gingerbread platform that’s upgradable to Ice Cream Sandwich. Additionally, the 3.5-inch display fixed onto the front features a scratch-resistant mineral glass with wet-finger tracking. It employs a Reality touchscreen proffering a 480 x 320 pixel resolution powered by Mobile Bravia Engine. For entertainment, the conglomerate states that users will be able to snap up a still through the rear-facing 5MP camera in a little over a second from sleep. The Sony Xperia advance can be pre-ordered for $299.99 through the company’s online store. The device is expected to ship starting December 1, 2012.
