Sony launches SmartBand 2 with heart rate monitor onboard

The new Sony SmartBand 2 has just been unveiled, with quite a number of distinct upgrades onboard, including a heart rate monitor. This accessory of course does not feature a display of its own and will hence rely upon LED lights, vibrations and the Lifelog companion app for delivering feedback.

It possesses the ability to create a complete log of your life. You can hence use the new Sony SmartBand 2 to peek at data from the past week, month and year, and it will be shown to you along with things like events, photos and music. This way, you can see how activities like holidaying and listening to your favorite music affect your pulse and stress levels.

The SmartBand 2 can be paired with your Android and iOS devices, so that you can receive vibration feedback for when a call or a message is received. This purpose is also served by the device’s LED lights which have different patterns for different notification types.

It has been blessed with IP68 certification which makes it pretty waterproof. Sleep tracking is one more great feature that has been pushed inside this accessory by Sony. Its smart alarm clock attribute monitors your sleep and wakes you up with vibrations at the best point, based on your sleep cycle.
