As if our plates weren’t full enough with MWC teasers, Sony has released its own now in the form a YouTube video which comes from its Xperia account. Apart from a tagline that goes ‘Something extraordinary is coming’ and a red colored cloth, nothing worthy of any hints is available in the short clip which asks fans to register on the company’s site for updates on the apparent new Xperia device.
What does the trailer give away?
Yes, even with so much ambiguity, the YouTube video does have a message hidden in it. ‘Something extraordinary is coming’ was also the tagline Sony had used while teasing the Xperia Z1 last year. So, there are high possibilities of this being a teaser for the Xperia Z2 phone and tablet range which has already surfaced in the form of a few leaks.
The Z2 phone
Codenamed Sony Sirius, this new smartphone will apparently be seen trotting a 5.2-inche panel but its resolution still remains unconfirmed. It’s said to be powered by a Snapdragon 800 chipset, and supposedly kicks in 3GB worth of RAM, a 20MP camera supporting 4K video shooting and of course Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
The Z2 tablet
And then there’s also the KitKat-equipped Sony Xperia Tablet Z2 which is supposed to have grabbed a 6.4mm thin design. It is to carry a 10.1-inch display, and its internals are pretty much in line with those if its smartphone cousin. An 8MP rear camera and a 2MP front snapper will also form part of its offerings.
Await the MWC
This is probably the biggest MWC there has ever been, but then again, each year it just keeps getting better and better. Apart from the Xperia devices from Sony, other giants like Nokia, Samsung and more too are supposed to unveil their products at the Barcelona event. Don’t worry, we’ll have them all covered.
