The Honami Xperia i1 (or Z1) has been teased on Twitter by Sony and no prizes for guessing whether it is indeed the rumored handset. Which Sony smartphone has everyone been talking about lately? If your answer is the Honami, then you’re most probably right. The company has practically confirmed this through a tweet and a shot of a tiny part of the device.
Of course, even if Sony hadn’t played Captain Obvious and added the tweet ‘It’s the smartphone everyone’s been talking about… not long now’ to the image, we would have still thought of the Honami since it’s the only Xperia topic that’s on fire right now. There were a few ‘confirmed sightings’ of the device before this. The last one we reported was delivered to enthusiasts via a video which was claimed to be an official preview of it.

The upcoming flagship was photographed perched beside the Xperia Z before that. As you can see from the tweet we’ve embedded above, absolutely nothing has been revealed about the smartphone unless you count Sony acknowledging its presence to be breaking news. But if the rumors are proved right, Nokia’s Lumia 1020 and 808 PureView may be in for it.
A 20MP beast of a camera will purportedly sit on the back panel. This sensor may be capable of shooting 4K (4000 x 2000) videos and allowing ISO level tweaks up to 12800. Android Jelly Bean 4.3 and a quad core Snapdragon 800 processor could also show up among the specs. What’s more, even a mini version of the Honami is anticipated to be on the cards.
Unwired View notes that Sony may have marked September 4 as the launch date for the Xperia i1, the day on which Samsung could come out with the Galaxy Gear smartwatch and Note 3.
