Sony Cyber-shot RX100 II launched in India for Rs 42,990

The Sony Cyber-shot RX100 II has hauled itself over to India and has gone on sale for Rs 42,990. The camera is a beefed up version of the original, featuring enhanced connectivity through NFC and an Exmor R 1.0-type CMOS sensor. The snapper went official globally a couple of weeks back and is retailing in the US for $750 which is $100 more than the price for its predecessor.

The Sony Cyber-shot RX100 II isn’t much different from the previous model in appearance. It flaunts the same stylish form factor that’s crafted from aluminum. The overall body measures 101.6mm x 58.1mm x 38.3 mm and it weighs around 281 grams. The company states that photographers will be able to obtain DSLR-style images through this shooter. To make this possible, the camera is equipped with a 20.2MP back-illuminated Exmor R 1.0-type CMOS sensor, an f1.8 Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T lens and the Bionz image processor. There’s also a host of control options for advanced shooting.

For the said price, you’d be expecting some pretty good zoom capabilities. However, 3.6x optical magnification is all that the camera is capable of delivering. The Sony Cyber-shot RX100 II has a 3-inch Xtra Fine LCD which can be tilted for added flexibility. What’s more, the Multi Interface Shoe allows buyers to attach an electronic viewfinder, an external flash or even a stereo microphone. The camera is capable of full HD recording in AVCHD and has Optical SteadyShot image stabilization for blur-free images.
