It is time to get advanced with Sony’s latest Blu-ray player. The next-generation model BDP-S350 is high-tech and power packed which comes bundled up with some cool features.

The latest Sony Blu-ray player supports BonusView (picture-in-picture) that is available only in select Blu-ray disc players. It also comes BD-Live ready along with an Ethernet port for Internet-based content. The Ethernet port enables an easy firmware update thereby enabling BD-Live.

“We leveraged our expertise in film production and digital technology to build a machine that movie fans would truly love,” said Chris Fawcett, vice president of marketing for Sony Electronics’ Home Products Division. “An advanced Blu-ray Disc player like the BDP-S350 is a must for every HDTV owner because it delivers the ultimate video and sound quality, while unlocking features you can’t find on DVD, downloads or video on demand.”

The features don’t end there. The player sports a quick start-up mode that speeds up the player’s boot-up time to a few seconds. With the external port for local storage for BD-Live that the player offers, the users can add an optional flash storage device that is available separately.

Want more? The BDP-S350 player also comes with a Precision Cinema HD Upscale technology. The latest device from Korean giant is especially aimed at the consumers who own extensive DVD movie libraries. The new technology the device features helps consumers convert standard-definition signals (480i) to 1080p and delivers a nearly full-HD resolution signal to 1080p TVs via HDMI.

Other features that the Sony BDP-S350 Blu-ray player boasts of are as follows:

  • Precision Drive HD- to detect and correct wobbling discs for stabilizing playback of bent or scratched Blu-ray Discs and DVDs.
  • 55 percent smaller by overall unit size than the BDP-S300 Blu-ray Disc model
  • 38 percent lighter with 52 percent less packing material than that came in the previous disc player.
  • Eco-friendly with 43 percent reduced CO2 emissions related to shipping.
  • Saves 21 percent of the power consumption while in the play-back mode and 43 percent in the standby mode.
  • 7.1 channel Dolby(R) TrueHD and Dolby(R) Digital Plus decoding and bit-stream output, as well as DTS(R)-HD High Resolution Audio and Master Audio bit-stream output.
  • Supports AVCHD discs encoded with x.v.Color(TM) (xvYCC) technology.
  • Compatible with formats like BD-R/RE (BDMV and BDAV modes), DVD+R/+RW, DVD-R/-RW, CD, CD-R/RW (CD-DA format), and JPEG on DVD/CD recordable media.
