Facebook Messenger’s new Camera update again tries to mimic Snapchat

Messenger

Facebook Messenger has been given yet another large update, with this one having been aimed at its camera. In true Snapchat fashion, this app’s camera is now able to add 3D masks and special effects to your photos and videos. Plus, a whole bunch of fresh stickers have also been introduced.

First and foremost, Facebook has made its focus clear by moving the Camera icon to the front and center of the interface. No matter if you’re already in a conversation or have just opened the app, the camera’s shutter button will still be at the center of the screen.

And then there are 3D masks and special effects which add some cheer to your selfies and videos. This is one more leaf taken straight out of the Snapchat book. Some of these artistic filters include a reindeer hat, falling snow, a hat and glasses and more.

Apart from that, thousands of new stickers, frames, masks and effects have also been added by Facebook to its Messenger app. The company tells us that these have been created with assistance from artists and influencers from all over the world.

Furthermore, the palette icon next to the shutter has been given new abilities. Along with its blank canvas, it now also allows you to add art and stickers apart from text. Surely, this update has made the chat app quite a diverse experience.

The new versions of Facebook Messenger are rolling out gradually on Android and iOS devices.
