Google shows off Android for Work program so that you can BYOD to the office

Using two devices just so you can keep your personal and work lives separate is a hard task, a thought which has propelled Google to introduce the Android for Work program for businesses all over the world. This feature was first showcased by company during the unveiling of Android 5.0 Lollipop, but it is only now that it has decided to give us a deeper insight into its features.

As you might have guessed, Android for Work allows you to use the same device for personal as well as work use in a secure way. It lets your employers manage the restrictions in a very easy manner, moreover. It’s supposed to work best on Android 5.0 Lollipop devices, but will also be partly supported by gadgets running Android 4.0 and up.

Over and above the default encryption, SELinux security enforcement and multi-user support on Google’s latest OS version, Android for Work offers a dedicated work profile which isolates and protects your important work data. Using this, businesses can deploy approved work apps without worrying about the security of their sensitive data.

Moreover, the owners of these devices can use their personal apps without any worries, since the businesses only have control over their work apps. Google has gone ahead and also created a suite of business-focused apps for helping users manage their managing email, contacts and calendars. This suite features support for both Exchange and Notes, and kicks in editing capabilities for documents, spreadsheets and presentations.

A long list of partners has been revealed by Google for its Android for Work program. It includes big guns like SAP, BlackBerry, HTC, Samsung, Motorola, Adobe, Box, Citrix and Cisco among others.
