Microsoft Office 15 is making an attempt to create subtle waves across the tech arena by announcing its technical preview program. In this phase, the system will be tested for its strengths and weaknesses by a select group of customers.

Codenamed Office 15, this latest entrant is expected to mark the next generation of products and services by Microsoft. The project is aimed towards enabling an update for servers and cloud services as well as mobile and PC clients for several offerings by the company.

“At this early point in our development cycle, I’m not able to share too much about Office 15, but I can tell you Office 15 is the most ambitious undertaking yet for the Office Division. With Office 15, for the first time ever, we will simultaneously update our cloud services, servers, and mobile and PC clients for Office, Office 365, Exchange, SharePoint, Lync, Project, and Visio. Quite simply, Office 15 will help people work, collaborate, and communicate smarter and faster than ever before,” posted PJ Hough, CVP of Development, Microsoft Office Division on the official Office Exec blog.

Under this technical preview program, Microsoft has already selected a set of customers who have willingly entered into non-disclosure agreements. These individuals will indulge in testing Office 15 and contribute to its development process by providing crucial feedback. The final release for commercial purposes is expected to be developed on this basis.

After the technical preview program is completed, the Microsoft Office 15 public beta version is expected to be ready for release by summer this year.
