In a huge announcement, the folks behind Skype have revealed that the service will soon become the recipient of a free group video calling feature. This is supposed to work on Windows 10 Mobile, Android as well as iOS platforms.
Skype has made this announcement as a celebration of completing ten years since free video calling was first introduced. It has moreover been 6 years since the same feature was made available for mobile devices by the Microsoft-owned company.
And now, the next step in the service’s evolution is upon us in the form of free group video calling. The actual rollout to the three above mentioned platforms will take some time to commence, but if you wish to be among the first to try it out, you can pre-register here and get the new feature earlier than others.
Details about how exactly this service will work have been kept a secret for now. Skype has however, revealed that more than 750 million people have downloaded its app on their iOS, Android or Windows mobile devices. This has contributed to over two trillion minutes of video calls having been conducted over the last decade.
