Samsung’s Galaxy S5 receives Marshmallow in South Korea

Remember the Samsung Galaxy S5, that awesome phone from 2014 which came with a fingerprint scanner as well as a heart rate sensor? It’s time for the device to be blessed with Android 6.0 Marshmallow to bring its software in line with that of the company’s latest flagships.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is getting the 6.0.1 version of this update right now, but its availability its limited only to the SM-G900L models running on the LG UPlus network in South Korea. However, the fact that at least one model is getting it, means that others are expected to receive it in the coming days as well.

As revealed by SamMobile, this Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow release for the Galaxy S5 has been equipped with a number of bug fixes, stability improvements and speed optimizations. Not to forget, it comes with all the features that the base software is known for, including Doze, Google Now on Tap, granular app permissions and more.

And in addition to all that, this update has also been laced by Samsung with the March security patches released by Google. Let us now wait and watch how long it takes for this upgrade to reach other parts of the world.
