Samsung has been selling a Gear VR headset in the form of Innovator Editions, but the company has just unveiled a final variant that’s aimed towards regular consumers. This version bears a few changes from the original, and the most important point to be reckoned is that it will be priced at just $99.
The virtual reality hardware is all set to be made available in the US this November at the above mentioned retail value. The new Samsung Gear VR headset will also be making its way into other markets following that.
An important aspect about this model is that it supports more smartphones than its predecessor. While the earlier variant only worked with the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy Note 4, this fresh piece of machinery will be able to take devices like the Galaxy Note 5, the Galaxy S6 Edge and the Galaxy S6 Edge+.
The newest version of the Gear VR hardware has been revealed to be 22 percent lighter than the Innovator Edition. It comes complete with fresh foam cushioning in order to increase the comfort levels of its users. Its maker has also added some improvements to its touchpad to provide better control over the content.
Samsung has built this device along with Oculus, and the latter has announced fresh content that will soon be making its way to the platform. This includes support for Twitch, TiVo, Netflix, Lionsgate and even Minecraft.
