Samsung unveils its latest creation for the global markets in the form of two new touchscreen phones namely Samsung Star S5230 and Samsung Preston S5600. Sporting a compact design and innovative features, these handsets claim to bring to users a full touch phone at an affordable price.
The Star supports 2.5G networks while the Preston comes with support for 3G networks. Both the handsets are said to be Samsung’s highly attractive handsets and Star already has more than 2 million pre-orders in the global markets.
“Samsung Star and Samsung Preston are significant additions to our full-touch screen mobile portfolio, featuring all the essential functions in one single device,” said JK Shin, executive vice president and head of Mobile Communications division at Samsung Electronics. “I am pretty confident that the products will be one of our historical best selling mobiles. Focusing on our consumer-oriented strategy, Samsung will deliver various full touch products for every lifestyle.”
Let’s look at them one by one,
Samsung Star S5230: This Samsung beauty bundles up the newest multimedia features in a slim and compact form factor that measures merely 11.9mm. The phone’s 3.0-inch WQVGA full-touchscreen along with TouchWiz UI and mobile widgets offers easy and intuitive usage. The Photo Contact makes calling a contact easy just by touching a particular image.
Capture those loved memories with its 3.2 mega-pixel camera while video recording capability supports QVGA at 15fps. The support for multi-format and DNSe enhances the audio experience. Search music using Shazam’s Find Music service and store all the important and precious images, videos, etc with its expandable memory up to 8 GB and 50MB internal memory. The phone also features full Internet browsing with an accelerometer sensor, QWERTY soft keyboard, Gesture Lock and handwriting features. Pick one among several colors including Soft Pink and Snow White.
Samsung Preston S5600: This slim, compact handset is aimed at all the style conscious people. Apart from good looks, the phone also reveals some quality features. It comes integrated with a 2.8-inch QVGA full-touch screen along with TouchWiz User Interface and Gesture Lock feature. The mobile widgets add to your convenience while some of its other features include full Internet browsing, support for accelerometer sensor, 7.2Mbps HSDPA connectivity, 3.2 mega-pixel camera and Shazam’s Find Music service.
This handset also supports multi-codec such as H.263, MPEG4 and WMV and offers internal memory of 80 MB that can be expanded up to 8GB. Users can choose among Sweet Pink, Snow White and Charcoal Grey colors.
These Samsung handsets are released for the global markets, Samsung Preston is available in Europe and Asia while the Samsung Star is said to be available in Europe, Middle East Africa, South East Asia, South West Asia and Latin America from this month. There is no word on the pricing.
