Samsung Electronics has announced the launch of the SGH-F490 multimedia mobile phone in the European market. A unique feature of this phone is its 16:9 wide full touch screen and intuitive user interface. Samsung now joins a number of companies who have come out with touch screen devices like HTC, Apple and LG.
Samsung’s F490 handset sports a 32-inch 16:9 wide screen, providing a panoramic view of pictures and videos and a better view when surfing the Web.
The SGH-F490 is a slim bar-style phone which measures just 11.8mm. Its corners are rounded and the phone’s glossy surface makes it a pleasure to hold it in the hand.
The highly intuitive Croix UI involves two bars that cross-hatch. This enables users to access all functions just by tapping and dragging. For instance, during song playback, users will easily be able to movie left/right to rewind/fast forward and move up/down to adjust the volume.
Other features of the Samsung SGH-F490 mobile phone include a 5 mega pixel camera and a standard 3.5mm audio jack and support for compatible microSD cards plus 130MB of internal memory. The phone also has Bluetooth 2.0 and supports USB 2.0, enhancing connection options.
The Samsung F490 handset supports fast HSDPA networks. Thus, downloading large files, streaming videos and even holding video conversations are possible at really fast speeds of up to 3.6Mbps.
Further, Samsung’s F490 comes embedded with the Google Search and optimized full browser for viewing web pages in both horizontal and vertical modes.
