The Windows 8-based Series 5 and Series 7 Slate PCs prices and release date details have been announced and they will be released along with detachable keyboards to deliver the functionality of a laptop. Both the devices are expected to go up for sale in October.
Featuring a touchscreen display spanning 11.6 inches, the Samsung Series 5 Slate PC offers visuals in 1366 x 768p resolution and the Series 7 renders HD images in 1920 x 1080p resolution. The latter boasts of an Intel Core i5 processor along with 4GB RAM and comes integrated with a 128GB SSD, whereas the former is powered by an Intel 2-watt CPU as well as 2GB RAM and features a 64GB SSD.
“With the introduction of our new Slate PCs, we are providing customers with greater choice while maintaining the power of a traditional PC. We created our Slate PCs with a focus on beautiful design, powerful performance and ease of use, attributes that our customers have come to expect in their Samsung computing experience,” commented Todd Bouman, vice president of marketing at Samsung’s Enterprise Business Division.
“Our mobile PC business has grown significantly over the past year, which is a testament to our ability to meet customer needs in this space, and we expect strong growth to continue with our new Slate PCs,” continued Bouman.
These Windows 8 slabs also tag along a stylus that sits in its dedicated slot. The pressure-sensitive S Pen extends support to multiple applications and is capable of turning handwriting into text. Additionally, the lightweight slates are even loaded with various Samsung services including Media Hub and a number of S Pen applications.
The Samsung Series 5 and Series 7 Slate PCs price and release date details have been chalked out. The Series 5 costs $749 with the keyboard dock and $649 without it, while the Series 7 can be picked up for $1,199. Both tablets are slated to be made available starting October 26.
