Samsung is searching for multiple ways to market its Galaxy Tab series. We’ve seen the devices go on sale as Student Edition bundled with a keyboard, been made available for free on purchase of select Galaxy smartphones and now, we’re about to see the Tab 3 8.0 model be packaged as a Game Edition which include the company’s latest GamePad controller which went official in Europe a few days back.
The GamePad controller is designed for smartphones as it can accommodate screen sizes between 4 and 6.3 inches. It can however, be also used with tablets as an external Bluetooth peripheral. The device supports Android 4.1 and it’s optimized for version 4.3 Jelly Bean where NFC tagging is enabled.
The GamePad is quite similar to the Xbox 360 controller where button layout is concerned. There are 2 analog sticks, an 8-way d-pad, 4 face buttons as well as play, start and select keys. You’ll also have 2 shoulder buttons on the top. The device features a rechargeable 160mA battery and a 195-gram form factor that measures 137.78mm x 86.47mm x 31.80mm in dimensions.
