Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8-inch model being tested in India

Almost every major Samsung device heads to India for testing and the upcoming Galaxy Tab S2 8 is no exception as the slate has been spotted making its way into the country. A listing shows that a single tablet with the model number SM-T715 was imported just a few days back for evaluation.

The Zuaba website highlight that the company will dispose of the device by destroying it. This unit of Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 8 is probably a prototype and the reason behind its harsh end is so that no one is able to leak an unfinished product which could cause harm to the company. Nevertheless, we wouldn’t be surprised if images of the slate get snapped up and posted online before its doom.

The listing also disclosed that the Samsung tablet is valued at Rs 15857 or $252, notes PhoneArena. This, of course, is nowhere near to what the device will retail for when launched. No information about the slate has been provided, but previous leaks have already painted quite a good picture of what we can expect from it.

What we know is that there will be two versions, the SM-T710 and SM-T810, the former falling in the 8-inch category and the latter catering to the 9.7-inch segment. Unlike the previous lineup, the new Glaaxy Tab S2 series will have displays with 4:3 aspect ratio and 2048 x 1536 pixel panels to go up against Apple’s iPad. The devices will also be super slim at 5.4mm and have a metal frame.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 SM-T710/SM-T810 specs:

– 8/9.7-inch 2048 x 1536 pixel Super AMOLED Display
– Exynos 5433/Exynos 7420 processor
– 3GB RAM, 32GB expandable storage
– 2.1MP front camera, 8MP rear shooter
– Android 5.0 Lollipop
– 3580mAh/ 5870mAh battery

We don’t expect to see the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 series go official anytime soon, at least not till June of this year.
