Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 could come in 10.1 and 8-inch versions

Samsung Galaxy Brand

We wait on South Korean manufacturer Samsung to announce its Galaxy Tab 3, but a leak has apparently confirmed that the device will come in two screen sizes – a 10.1-inch version and an 8-inch model. Of course, this has to be labeled a rumor as it hasn’t been officially corroborated yet. But still, so much speculation surrounding the smartphone maker has been fairly accurate in the recent past.

Gone are the days when Apple leaks were the talk of the town. Well, not precisely. ‘News’ from the Cupertino-based conglomerate still trickles down, mostly regarding its renewed product life-cycle and its next generation iPads. And then there’s the annoying buzz that keeps cropping up about a smartwatch, or some sort of wearable device tied to the iPhone.

A report from SamMobile suggests that Greek website Techblog has the lowdown on the specs of both devices, in a move which seemingly confirms the existence of the variants. Apparently, the larger one will have a 10.1-inch, 1280 × 800 pixel display and run on version 4.1.2 of Jelly Bean. It is expected that there will be a 3MP camera on the rear, but exact capabilities of the lens are not known.

On the front, it is suggested that a 1.3MP webcam will come along allowing users to engage in video chats with friends and family. 16GB of internal memory should be enough for the basic needs of storage, but the report also sees a microSD card for expansion. In terms of processing power and RAM, we could have a 1.5GHz dual core chip and 1GB of RAM. A 7,000mAh battery should round things up, while connectivity options are listed as Wi-Fi, DLNA, Wi-Fi Direct and Bluetooth 4.0.

The 8-inch version, on the other hand, is to have the same screen resolution and platform, while it is expected to include the same processor as well. Camera specifics are also expected to be on par with the 10.1-inch variant, as are the wireless options, but battery capacity is understandably listed at 4,500mAh. What’s odd is that this version is thought to have 2GB of RAM, double that of its larger sibling.

Both the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 and 8.0 are said to be compatible with 4G LTE and 3G/HSPA+ networks. It isn’t known how much in-built storage the smaller slate will have.
