With about a month to go for the launch of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, two new videos have now emerged offering a hands-on look at the flagship phones. The handsets in the footage are up and running and fall neatly in line with previous rumors about the two.
Slashleaks’ Weibo-sourced video features the alleged Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus side-by-side. Both have been furnished with minimum bezels and dual-curved screens. No physical home button can be seen, confirming earlier speculation that Samsung is ditching its standard look.
The person handling the devices at one point wakes the purported Galaxy S8 Plus up from its Always-On slumber via a power button located on the side of the smartphone. There also appears to be volume rockers and a dedicated Bixby button.
As for the fingerprint scanner, it seems to have moved to the back of the Samsung offerings next to the rear camera module. The bottom makes room for a 3.5mm headphone jack, speakers, and a USB Type-C port.
The second video is much shorter and only depicts the Galaxy S8. A person can be seen typing on the device and gives the impression of heading into keyboard settings from the contacts app. Intriguingly, AT&T Service Contacts pops up in the latter, hinting that the phone will tie up with the carrier when it releases.
There’s no way to verify the authenticity of the leaks as of now. The strongest argument in their favor is that official teasers of the handset show off a very similar borderless design.
