Samsung Galaxy S5 enthusiasts, it looks like you’re gonna get an official introduction to the smartphone before the MWC 2014 kicks off. A fresh rumor doing the rounds pegs its launch day as February 23 and its release date is expected to fall any time in the mid to end of April time frame.
What’s more, the price of the Samsung Galaxy S5 has also been given out if you want to take this latest tidbit seriously. The unlocked Galaxy S4 was initially available for upwards from $630. Going by Russian blogger, Eldar Murtazin’s tweet, the price of the upcoming device will stay the same.

SamMobile points out that Murtazin had been correct with the launch date of Samsung’s current flagship too. If this happens, it would be an unusual move by the company seeing as no dedicated event for the phone has been revealed. The thing is, we’d previously heard about a ‘reliable source’ confirming a March 2014 unveiling for the S5.
So you can take this rumor with a pinch of salt, if you please. In terms of market availability, SamMobile had claimed that the handset would be on shelves by April. It could arrive in two versions, one sporting a metal façade and the other coming in plastic. There are speculations that the metal one will branch off into a premium Galaxy F series.
Posted above is @evleaks’ tweet showing what is assumed to be the new TouchWiz UI. And based on the ‘evidence’ we’ve gathered so far, here’s what we think we know about the Samsung Galaxy S5 specs:
– 5.2-inch 2560 x 1440p touchscreen
– 16MP camera
– Snapdragon/Exynos processor
– Android KitKat 4.4 OS
– 3GB RAM
– Metal and plastic variants
