The Samsung SM-G870x smartphone is nothing but the codename of the Galaxy S5 Active and if the rumors doing the rounds on the web are to be believed, it is on the cards for the US. Carriers like AT&T and Sprint amongst others have decided to play host to the gadget in the country, but we have no idea about the smartphone’s release date as yet.
This particular piece of information has been revealed by none other than the serial leaker, @evleaks. But even this Twitter handle seems to know nothing about the exact details of the device’s arrival. And of course, there hasn’t been an official announcement regarding the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active as yet.
The phone in question plays successor to the S4 Active which is the ruggedized version of the Galaxy S4 and brings water and dust resistance to the table. However, launching a sturdy variant of the S5 hardly makes sense, considering that the latest generation smartphone itself is capable of withstanding water and dust.
Not much is known about the upcoming gadget, but we are expecting it to be similar to the S5 in terms of specifications. Another version of the flagship smartphone called the Galaxy S5 Zoom is in the offing as well and if the reports are anything to go by, it will bring a 20MP camera and a hexa core processor amongst other things.
Samsung SM-G870x is the Galaxy S5 Active. Coming to AT&T and Sprint, among other carriers.
