A new device going by the Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus moniker has emerged out of the South Korean manufacturer’s stable. Just as the name hints, the smartphone is expected to build upon the good old reputation of the S2 which popped out in April 2011. In fact, a glance through the specifications sheet should be enough to tell interested buyers that it doesn’t stray too far away from the original.
For starters, the Galaxy S2 Plus holds onto the same 4.3-inch WVGA screen of the Super AMOLED Plus type. Even the form factor and dimensions are practically the same, with the non-NFC version of the fresh handset being a few millimeters thinner. Except for the different textures on the flip side, nothing much has changed in the forthcoming device. In terms of memory, the internal hoarding space has got a downgrade from the original 32GB to 8GB, though the storage is now expandable up to 64GB.
The 8MP snapper perched on the phone’s rear is dressed with an LED flash and various handy attributes like Face Zoom, Group Facetag and Buddy photo share. Additionally, for allowing video chats, touching up the makeup and what not, the front panel hosts a 2MP camera. There’s a 1.2GHz dual core processor lending speed to all the functions of the device, while a 1,650mAh Li-ion battery provides the juice.
Samsung’s latest handset will run on Android Jelly Bean and pack in a host of features like AllShare Play, a less complex notification section, Direct Call, Smart Stay and more. It’ll be interesting to see how the (rumored) upcoming launch of the S4 affects sales of its comparatively lower end new sibling; or whether it will at all.
With regards to the price for the Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus or its release date, the company hasn’t been very obliging with these details.
