Just hours following LG’s unveiling of its new G Flex curved smartphone, Samsung managed to release a TVC in its home country, showcasing how using the Galaxy Round is a as natural as holding an egg or an avocado or a baby’s hand perhaps. The 30-second video – spotted by Android Authority – which can be seen in the space below basically goes on to display many things from our daily lives which feature rounded surfaces, before cutting to a hand holding a Galaxy Round.
Featuring a horizontal bend in its form factor, this new handset is yet to be announced for markets outside South Korea, but there’s no harm is being optimistic. First displayed earlier this month, the Galaxy Round features some really advanced specifications as well.
Its design incorporates a 5.7-inch 1080p AMOLED screen on its 79.6mm x 7.9mm x 151.1mm body. Tipping the scales at 154 grams, it carries a 2800mAh battery under its hood. Android v4.3 Jelly Bean is the preferred OS, and Samsung’s TouchWIZ user interface which accompanies the software has been granted some vital modifications to complement the smartphone’s peculiar shape.
A quad core Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.3GHz powers the Galaxy Round from within, and this setup is assisted in the process by 3GB worth of RAM. A 13MP rear camera and a 2MP front snapper have also been placed on the handset. Besides, there’s 32GB worth of default storage available on it, apart from a microSD card slot for further expansions of up to 64GB.
There are no reports as of now regarding the release of the Samsung Galaxy Round outside its home country, but if the company does decide to sell it in other markets, we’ll have all the details for you to munch on.
