The Samsung Galaxy J6 launch event has finally introduced the handset after plenty of leaks. The phone was unveiled in India alongside the Galaxy A6, Galaxy A6+, and Galaxy J8.
The Galaxy A6 and Galaxy A6+ went official earlier this month, but the Galaxy J6 and Galaxy J8 are completely new. All 4 Samsung smartphones boast of 18.5:9 Infinity Displays for 15% more screen. The design has been restricted to the brand’s flagship devices till now, so the style is a big selling point for the mid-range phones.
The Galaxy J6 and Galaxy J8 are constructed out of polycarbonate. In contrast, the A6 and A6+ are made out of metal. Only the last gets an FHD+ display, with the rest sticking to HD+. Sizes vary between 5.6-inch (J6/A6) and 6-inch (J8/A6+).
The Samsung Galaxy J6 launch also saw the arrival of a new Make for India “Chat Over Video” tool. The feature allows users to watch a video and text with someone simultaneously. The chat window and keyboard are transparent, so they can view the video without hitting the pause button. It appears to work with apps like WhatsApp.

In terms of photography, the Galaxy A6 and Galaxy J6 get 16MP and 13MP rear cameras, respectively. The Galaxy A6+ and Galaxy J8 up the ante to 16MP (f/1.7) + 5MP (f/1.9) dual lenses. Users can blur the background before or after taking a shot. Both Face Unlock and fingerprint scanning are available to unlock the 4 handsets.
Samsung Galaxy J6 launch offers
The Galaxy J6 is priced at Rs 13990 for its 3GB/32GB option. The cost rises to Rs 16490 for its 4GB/64GB model. The Galaxy J8 is available at Rs 18990 with 4GB/64GB inside. The Galaxy A6 goes for Rs 21990 (4GB/32GB) and Rs 22990 (4GB/64GB). Finally, the Galaxy A6+ is going to be sold at Rs 25990 for 4GB/64GB of memory.
ICICI Bank credit card and Paytm customers get Rs 3000 (A6/A6+) or Rs 1500 (J6/J8) as cashback. Buyers further get a one-time screen replacement deal if their preferred smartphone is bought before June 20.

The Galaxy J6, Galaxy A6, and Galaxy A6+ will hit availability on May 22. The Galaxy J8 is going to follow in July 2018. All will vend through Samsung’s site and offline shops. The Galaxy J6 is set to go to Flipkart, while the Galaxy A6 and Galaxy A6+ are heading to Amazon India.
