As promised, Samsung has launched in India a new smartphone today, and it happens to be the Galaxy J3. Priced at just Rs 8990, this device has been aimed at bikers thanks to its incorporation of features that help you avoid distractions while riding a vehicle.
The Samsung Galaxy J3 comes with an NFC tag which you can stick anywhere on your bike, with the helmet or the fuel tank being the most obvious choice. Now, each time you are about to ride the bike, you can tap your phone onto this tag for it to enter the S Bike mode.
When someone is trying to call you, the S Bike mode of the Galaxy J3 informs them that you are riding your bike, with a pre-recorded message. Just in case they feel that the call is urgent, they can press 1 and the call will be connected nonetheless; so you can pull over and receive it knowing that it’s something important.
A neat look at the specs of the new Samsung Galaxy J3:
– Display: 5-inch Super AMOLED, 720p HD resolution
– OS: Android 5.1 Lollipop
– Processor: 1.5GHz quad core
– Memory: 1.5GB RAM, 8GB storage (expandable up to 128GB)
– Cameras: 8MP rear, 5MP front
– Battery: 2600mAh
– Dimensions: 142.3 x 71 x 7.9mm
– Weight: 138gms
An incredibly cool functionality is the S Bike mode’s Motion Lock, which only allows you to take an urgent call once your bike is stationary. Samsung has even revealed that users of this mode have a chance to win some sort of rewards, but hasn’t provided any details about them.
Coming to the handset itself, it’s highlighted by its incorporation of a Super AMOLED display which is 5 inches in size. It disappointingly runs Android 5.1 Lollipop, but impresses with its adoption of a 2600mAh battery that promises up to 13 hours of talktime.
The Samsung Galaxy J3 has already started being sold via Snapdeal in the form of black, white and gold color options.
