Samsung was expected to bring the Galaxy A series to India today and so it did, but the company also took the wraps off two entirely new smartphones under the E series. The latter lineup has only been seen in leaks so far, but everything about the phones has been made official.
The Samsung Galaxy E range is basically a cheaper alternative to the A lineup. The handsets offer a similar looking design which is not at all surprising and two options currently exist. The E5 is a 5-inch release sporting a 720p HD Super AMOLED touchscreen and it’s powered by a 1.2GHz quad core processor.
Samsung has also included 16GB of storage, a microSD card tray supporting up to 64GB, 1.5GB RAM, dual SIM slots and a 2400mAh battery. The cameras here are an 8MP rear shooter and a 5MP front imager. The E7 on the other hand, offers a 5.5-inch HD display, a 13MP rear snapper, 2GB of RAM and a 2950mAh battery.

The rest is pretty much the same for both smartphones. Also, they run on Android 4.4 KitKat and will be updated to Lollipop. In the Galaxy A series, the A5 is very similar to the E5 expect that it has slightly better features like a 13MP main camera, 2GB RAM and a 2300mAh power pack.

– Android 4.4 KitKat
– 4.5-inch qHD Super AMOLED display
– 1.2GHz quad core processor
– 5MP front snapper, 8MP rear shooter

– 1900mAh battery
The Samsung Galaxy E5 is priced at Rs 19300 and the E7 can be picked up for Rs 23000. Both phones offer 3G support, while the A3 and A5 have LTE connectivity with retail tags of Rs 20500 and Rs 25500, respectively.
