Samsung Galaxy Discover coming to US via Straight Talk and Net10

Samsung Galaxy Discover

The Samsung Galaxy Discover is to come to the US through Net10 and Straight Talk, while there’s nothing on a price or a release date yet. It is an entry-level device with Ice Cream Sandwich and pre-loaded with a host of Google services. We saw another low-end phone from Pantech with a similar name come to AT&T sometime last month.

The Galaxy Discover has a 3.5-inch screen offering visuals at a 320 x 480 pixel resolution. A decent 3MP camera makes itself comfortable on its back panel and is capable of video capture, 3x zoom and a variety of modes, in addition to supporting geo-tagging.

There’s also an 800MHz Qualcomm MSM7225A processor and the prospect of 2.7GB of internal memory which can be taken further up to 32GB for any additional storage needs that may arise. And users can look forward to a few connectivity options as well, since the gadget is capable of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

One of the good things about the phone is its 1300mAh Li-ion battery which can reportedly deliver up to 8.5 hours of talk time on a single charge or keep going for as much as 11 days on standby in between charges. GPS and an accelerometer round up the feature list crammed into a 4.59″ x 2.42″ x .45″ package.

An entry-level handset that can probably go up against devices a few weight classes above it is the recently unveiled Nokia Lumia 620. It comes with WP8, a powerful 5MP camera, a decent amount of RAM and a 1GHz dual core powerhouse. And it has to its credit those attractive interchangeable covers capable of sprucing up any smartphone experience.

The Samsung Galaxy Discover should make it to Straight Talk and Net10 soon, especially since the South Korean manufacturer has decided to go official about it. And as Phone Scoop is reporting, the device hasn’t shown up on either of the two carrier’s websites yet, which means that pricing details and availability information will be shielded from us for now.
