The price in India of the Samsung Galaxy Camera is here, nearly 2 weeks after the device went up for pre-order in the country. It runs on Google’s mobile OS and supports connectivity features such as 3G and Wi-Fi for convenient image as well as video sharing from almost anywhere.
The device in question isn’t the first of its kind to debut in India. Nikon has come up with a similar gadget which combines the traditional point-and-shoot form factor with the Android platform. Branded the Coolpix S800c, it boasts of a 16MP camera, a CMOS image sensor and 10x optical zoom with Gingerbread for a cost of Rs. 20,950. Compared to the Galaxy Camera, these specifications aren’t all that alluring. Samsung’s version houses a 17MP (approximately) BSI CMOS sensor with 21x optical and digital zoom. It has a focal length of 4.1mm to 86.1mm and an f2.8 aperture.
The Android Jelly Bean platform runs the show here, providing users with vast capabilities. They will be able to conveniently back up captured content to the cloud and edit images with the Photo Wizard application. Pictures can be snapped up at ISO 100 to 3200 and videos can be recorded in 1080p full HD at 30fps or in slow motion. Powering up the device is a quad core processor clocked at 1.4GHz and 1GB of RAM, while visuals are displayed through a 4.8-inch HD Super Clear touchscreen.
The Samsung Galaxy Camera is available for purchase in India at Rs. 29,900. Potential buyers can pick up this snapper-cum-smartphone through the company’s country-specific eStore, or via Flipkart.com where a 16GB SanDisk microSDHC memory card is thrown in for free. Through the latter retailer, the gadget is expected to ship in 8 to 10 days’ time. eBay is currently accepting pre-orders for the device at the said tag. And based on the details provided by the listing, it appears to be the 4G LTE + Wi-Fi version.
