Samsung Galaxy Camera pre-orders take flight in India

Samsung Galaxy Camera

The highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy Camera has made its way into India and it’s now available for pre-order online. The device is basically a blend of smartphone-oriented features with a traditional point-and-shoot appearance.

The snapper was first unveiled back in August after a number of leaks went online claiming that Samsung was preparing a camera with Galaxy S3-like features. Farfetched as the concept appeared to be, the South Korean conglomerate wasn’t the only one to be developing a gadget of such. The Nikon Coolpix S800c was the first to arrive with the Android platform on-board and Wi-Fi capabilities for convenient sharing. The device in question, however, is 3G and WLAN compatible and it even boasts off a host of high end features.

Back Front

Unlike smartphones, the camera is on the bulky side with a thickness of 19.1mm. It even weighs a total of 305 grams. The rear sports a HD Super Clear Touch screen which measures approximately 4.77 inches diagonally. The Android 4.1 platform runs the show here with a 1.4GHz quad core processor taking charge, while imaging capabilities are left in the hands of a 16.3MP BSI CMOS sensor and a 21x optical zoom lens.

As a promotional offer, those who pre-book the Galaxy Camera will receive a 16GB microSD card for free. However, there are a few terms and conditions that buyers have to follow. To redeem this, they will have to make a complete payment of the balance amount within 3 days of the device hitting availability status on the Samsung eStore. The company is also providing cash on deliver payment option and there’s no clarification as to whether the promo is valid on this method as well.

The Samsung Galaxy Camera price details for India aren’t officially known as yet. The device is up for pre-order through the company’s country-specific eStore in black and white shades and it can be booked for an advance payment of Rs. 3,000. Where a release date is concerned, it shouldn’t be far off. Flipkart.com has also listed the snapper as ‘coming soon’ and Infibeam is even accepting orders through its telesales service.
