The latest dual core processor dubbed Samsung Exynos 5 Dual arrives with claims of keeping up with some of the mega trends in the mobile segment. These include the ability to carry out essential operations without utilizing a lot of power and support of high resolution displays for improved multimedia performance.
This SoC has been designed using the 32nm low-power process and is obviously capable of offering the performance expected from a dual core CPU and a relatively high memory bandwidth. Apart from this, it should proffer devices the ability to support a WQXGA screen and video hardware that facilitates viewing 1080p videos at the rate of 60 frames per second.
The dual core chipset will tag along 3D graphics hardware as well as an Image Signal Processor with 3DNR, Vdeo Dgital Image Stabilization and Optical Distortion Compensation. And if that’s not enough, it claims to make the concerned device capable of carrying out high-speed data transfer, thanks to the SATA3 and USB 3.0 interfaces. The Exynos 5 is expected to work in conjunction with a dual core Cortex-A15 chip, each of the cores of which are said to clock in a speed of 1.7GHz.
Its memory bandwidth of 12.8GB/s featuring 2-port 800MHz LPDDR3 RAM can take on demanding tasks like rendering 3D visuals, image signal processing and encoding or decoding HD videos. Moreover, its dynamic virtual address mapping ensures complete utilization of memory resources. The processor can even work in conjunction with OpenGL ES 2.0 or Halti and integrates eDP controller and PHY transceiver for low power consumption.
The company is yet to announce devices that will incorporate the Samsung Exynos 5 Dual chipset.
