Samsung debuts Galaxy S7, S7 Edge in India

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have arrived in India, just two weeks after they were announced at the MWC 2016. The company has a lot riding on its flagship phones, with an earlier report even alleging that the brand had sunk over Rs 100 crore into marketing this series in the country.

One of the biggest factors which will decide the success of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge in India is the cost. Samsung has slapped a Rs 48900 price tag on the 32GB version of the former and a Rs 56900 one on the latter. It’s a bit higher than what previous rumors had indicated, but could still prove to give it an advantage over competition such as the Apple iPhone 6S.

The cost of the 64GB Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge hasn’t been revealed yet. Pre-orders for the 32GB variant of both have now kicked off and sales are set to begin on March 18. Anyone who pre-books it before March 17 will get a free Samsung Gear VR headset. Vodafone RED customers who buy the phone can avail of a double voice and data scheme for 6 months.

Furthermore, Samsung has also partnered with companies like Amazon, Ola, Mobikwik and Ibibo to offer consumers discounts for various services such as booking a cab, ordering food and shopping online. The concept is similar to Yu’s Around Yu platform which was announced alongside the Yutopia.
