It looks like Samsung has delayed the launch of its Chromebook 2 laptop in the US by a couple of weeks. The laptop was scheduled to go on sale this month, but has just been put up for pre-order and the expected shipping date is listed as early May 2014. The 11.6-inch and 13.3-inch models can be booked now for $319 and $399, respectively.
OMG Chrome spotted both models of the Samsung Chromebook 2 on the company’s online store in the US. The first generation Chrome-powered laptop from the company arrived with a dual core Exynos processor. With the latest models, the conglomerate has implemented its octa core chips with quad A15s and quad A7. The 11.6-inch model with the 5420 module is clocked at 1.9GHz, while the 2GHz 5800 SOC will be found on the 13.3-inch option.
The smaller Samsung Chromebook 2 will be equipped with an HD LED display and it’s capable of delivering up to 8 hours of battery life. Coming to the 13.3-inch model, you get a 1080p FHD panel with around 8.5 hours of activity on a single charge. Both options offer 4GB of RAM, 16GB of eMMC iNAND flash storage, a 720p webcam and various connectivity features such as HDMI, USB 3.0 and 2.0, a microSD card slot and more.
The Samsung Chromebook 2 11.6-inch laptop comes in jet black and classic white shades, while the 13.3-inch model will be available in gray only. You can also pre-order both variants through Amazon where the shipping date is pegged for the end of this month.
