Samsung Chromebook 2 is headed to the UK in May

Samsung’s successor to its highly successful Chromebook series is scheduled to hit the UK in May. Both 11.6-inch and 13.3-inch models will be available for purchase, while potential buyers in the US will be able to get their hands on the laptops starting next month.

Compared to its predecessor, the Samsung Chromebook 2 comes with beefier specs. Nevertheless, it’s still a very affordable option. The company has tossed out the outdated Exynos 5 Dual processor and replaced it with a much more powerful octa core SOC. As mentioned above, two models of the notebook will be made available. The CPU in the smaller version will have a 1.9GHz clock speed, while the silicon in the larger one will tick at 2.1GHz.

Additionally, they will have different screen resolutions, 1366 x 768p and 1920 x 1080p, respectively. With the addition of the new chip, the company has also managed to increase the battery life. Both models will deliver around 8 hours of activity. Apart from this, the Samsung Chromebook 2 series comes with a durable textured lid which dons a stitched design just like the rear panel of the Note 3. The laptops are optimized for Hangouts with 2W x2 speakers and a noise-reducing array microphone.

Common specs of the Chromebook 2 series:

– Google Chrome OS
– Exynos 5 Octa SOC
– 4GB DDR3L RAM, 16GB eMMC storage
