The Galaxy Note 9 is one of the most well-leaked smartphones out there, but no one has shared live photos of it yet. That’s now changed, as Samsung mobile head DJ Koh himself has accidentally leaked the smartphone.
Koh was at an event in China where he spoke about the Galaxy Note 9 and the Galaxy S10. It seems he took the former along with him and a photographer snapped a picture of him using it. Technically speaking, the Note 8 and Note 9 are supposed to look identical, but there is one major change which will help anyone tell the difference.
Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Fingerprint Reader
Speculation so far has suggested that the fingerprint sensor at the back of the Galaxy Note 9 has found a new home underneath the dual cameras instead of besides them. This exact placement can be seen in the image above. It’s a bit blurry, but the T-shape is definitely there.
Perhaps Koh assumed that no one would be able to guess he had the Galaxy Note 9 with him since it looks so similar to its predecessor. The back of the device gives the game away though. It could be a publicity stunt, but that’s not usually Samsung’s style. It hardly needs more media attention.
Little else can be made out in the photo. Koh is seen utilizing the S Pen, but his hands obscure most of the stylus so we can’t make out any design changes. The front of the device can’t be seen either. Word on the street is that Samsung’s shaved the bottom bezel a bit, but not by much.
The Galaxy Note 9 will make its debut on August 9 at an event in New York. Pre-orders will probably begin on the same day. The phone is set to hit stores on August 24.
