A Samsung 5.8-inch Android smartphone dubbed the Galaxy Fonblet has become the focus of the latest set of rumors bouncing around on the Internet. The device is allegedly inspired by the company’s own Galaxy Player 5.8 which came to light last September.
The Samsung 5.8-inch device sporting a new moniker – which is possibly a mash-up of the words ‘phone’ and ‘tablet’ in a way we haven’t seen before – even gets a model number specified. The GT-I9152, as it is labeled, seems to indicate that the slab will bring along dual SIM support for the ride.
This is something we’re seeing with an increasing frequency in recent times, with low end phones such as the Nokia 114 sporting the capability. In fact we just saw the HCL Me Y3 – a tablet which can deal with 2 SIM cards simultaneously – go live via online retail in India.
Going by what the folks over at SamMobile have to say – and the web site is dedicated to all things Samsung – an insider has confirmed to them that the company is planning on having an official announcement of the Galaxy Fonblet 5.8 soon. The reveal will apparently be for Europe only, just like the large player was restricted to Korea.
There’s not much more about the device, whether it will turn out to be a smartphone or a tablet. And for now we’ll just have to sit on those eggs until there comes a time that Samsung decides to boldly put its hand up and tell us more; something official perhaps.
This pieces of news, although it is said comes from an insider, must be strongly labeled a rumor. It goes as far as to say that for the South Korean multinational company headquartered in Seoul, white is the new black.
The 5.8-inch Samsung Galaxy Fonblet, or whatever it will be called, will most likely run Jelly Bean right out of the box. It is expected to come drenched in the company’s much loved ‘pure white’ color, and at this time it is not clear whether the phablet will get the Note’s popular stylus functionality.
