Redmi 2 Pro could be the first Xiaomi phone to hit the US

Xiaomi is already selling accessories in the US, but it’s still to begin its smartphone journey in the country. However, fresh evidence has pointed out that a Redmi 2 Pro handset is all set to change that, even as the device has been spotted at the Federal Communications Commission, or the FCC as it’s better known.

The handset has already been certified by the body, meaning that its launch isn’t too far away from now. Seems like the Chinese company will be targeting the holiday shopping rush by launching the Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 around that time period.

The specifications of this handset have come to the fore as well, thanks to the FCC listing (via GSM Arena). The Redmi 2 Pro is said to be powered by a Snapdragon 410 chipset sporting a 64-bit quad core CPU. It incorporates a 4.7-inch 1280 x 720 pixel HD monitor on its front surface moreover.

The memory needs of this Xiaomi smartphone are satisfied by 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and a microSD card slot. It features a 2200mAh battery pack as well. This MIUI 6 offering supports LTE bands 2, 4 and 7, making it compatible with at least AT&T and T-Mobile’s networks.

A clear look at the leaked specs of the Xiaomi Redmi 2 Pro:

– Display: 4.7-inch, 720p HD
– OS: Android-based MIUI 6
– Processor: Quad core Snapdragon 410
– GPU: ‎Adreno 306
– Memory: 2GB RAM, 16GB storage (expandable)
– Cameras: 8MP rear, 2MP front
– Battery: 2200mAh

As for the camera setup, it is still unknown. However, if the specs of this phone are to be compared with those of the Redmi 2 Prime which is being sold in India right now, they’re not too different from each other. From this, we can guess that the US handset will come with an 8MP rear camera and a 2MP front unit.

Let us now wait and see when the Xiaomi Redmi 2 Pro is actually unveiled by the company in the US, and at what price.
