A few days back we reported that the Nexus 5 is expected to come in 6 new shades. Today, we’ve got somewhat of confirmation that the red version does indeed exist and shouldn’t be far off from going on sale, at least in the UK.
Images of the red Nexus 5 from an LG warehouse in the UK have surfaced online. Twitter user Skazki has tweeted pictures of the handset’s packaging and the Nexus 5 dressed in red. So that’s one color official. The previous leak shows the Android flagship in more shades. They include purple, blue, green, yellow and orange. LG and Google are likely to announce the new options at the same time and considering that the devices (at least the red version) are packaged and ready to go, an official unveiling shouldn’t be far off.

Speaking of Nexus, a recent report has suggested that Google might abandon the series. The search giant is planning to re-brand it to Play Edition which is currently being used for pure Android phones and tablets from multiple manufacturers. The new changes are said to go live in 2015. The move seems viable if you were to ask us. The only ones to get affected here are those who like the Nexus moniker over Google Play Edition.
So, tell us – What color would you like to pick for the Nexus 5 apart from the usual black and white shades? And what are your thoughts on Google re-branding the Nexus program to Play Edition?
